Code Media comes back to New York, with Turner’s John Martin and BuzzFeed’s Janine Gibson

Some of the most interesting people in tech and media are gathering for an evening in November. Want to join us?

Every February, Recode brings the most interesting people at the intersection of media and technology to our Code Media conference.

If you came to the one we had this year, you got to see speakers like ESPN’s John Skipper, Vice’s Shane Smith, and Cosmo’s Joanna Coles. And just wait till we tell you about next year’s lineup!

But we don’t want to go 12 months without having another round of fascinating conversations with the people who are changing the media business, or adapting to the change technology creates.

So Kara Swisher and I are doing it again in November, in New York, at our Evening With Code Media event.

Like the name says, this one is like our other Code Media gatherings — great live journalism, great networking — but shorter. You come for cocktails and food, a couple hours of conversation, and you’re out. By the time you leave, you’ll learn a thing or two.

Here are two of the speakers that will be helping you level up:

* Turner CEO John Martin is in line to run Time Warner one day. For now, he runs one of the biggest properties in pay TV, and he’s planning for a future when pay TV looks smaller. So he’s trying to figure out how to future-proof networks like CNN and TNT — which may involve selling them directly to consumers over the internet.

* BuzzFeed U.K. Editor in Chief Janine Gibson was an old-media pro who ran the Guardian in the U.S., and was in line to become one of the New York Times’ top editors. Now she’s running BuzzFeed in the U.K., and bringing that site’s blend of click-friendly content and hard-hitting reporting across the Atlantic. Gibson’s got a particularly interesting perspective about what works — and what doesn’t — in the brave new world of digital journalism.

If you’ve been to a Recode event before, you know what you’re in for on Nov. 30 at the Steelcase WorkLife Center in Manhattan, right by Central Park. And if you haven’t come to one of our things, now’s a great time to take one for a test-drive.

Here’s the catch: We have limited space, and it goes fast. If you’d like to join us, please apply here for a invitation, and we’ll get things started.

And if you want to claim one of the seats for Code Media, we can accommodate that, too. Sign up here, and we’ll see you soon.
